“All That Remains” reviewed by Marie Wadsworth, New Mexican journalist and romance author/writer.
What do you get when you put a bad boy with a good girl? You get a match made in heaven. Or at least that’s what happens when Cupid’s arrow strikes Kristina Rivera and Darrin Banning in SG Cardin’s romance novel “All That Remains.” Fate has a hand in the whirlwind romance that develops between Kristina and Darrin. The pair’s paths cross by accident. Darrin needs a lawyer to help him keep custody of his daughter from his in-laws who are still reeling and grieving the lost of their daughter (Darrin’s wife) who died in a tragic car accident. And Kristina, who was fired from her ex-boyfriend Miguel’s case, is recommended for the job. There is an instant attraction between Kristina and Darrin that quickly evolves into romance. Kristina tries to maintain professionalism and not get involved with Darrin until his case is over. Of course, that doesn’t happen; both are swept away by passion and love that leads them to become so much more. I feel Cardin is one of the best in the competitive romance genre. She has a strong voice and her fast paced, smoothly flowing, poignant, sexy romance instantly draws you in and keeps you engrossed. Cardin’s romance has flair, flavor, and style that can be compared to Danielle Steel. She has the sizzle, heat, and sensuality of Harlequin and Silhouette but with class. I was impressed with Cardin. She was like sitting in your favorite chair in your fuzzy slippers in front of a fire with a glass of wine. It was like being with your best friends and having a fun slumber party. And who can ask for more than to read a writer who makes you feel like that? I thoroughly enjoyed “All That Remains”, which was a pleasant delight to read. The one drawback I noticed about the book was the last few chapters are rushed. It seemed like Cardin ran out of steam, whipping out an ending. This made the book less dramatic took away from the emotional impact. The ending was cute and it made me smile, but I was disappointed. I really loved Cardin’s characters and would have loved to read more than ten chapters. I’d highly recommend Cardin’s “All That Remains”. It’s a pretty good book. If you want to read a really good smoking romance then “All That Remains” is definitely it. I wouldn’t hesitate to read it again or add it to my library.
