EXCERPT FROM MATCHMATCHING AMUSEMENT:

Isolde walked out of the magic floo and collected her two bags in the baggage area. Muse pixies usually traveled by the floo network. Travel only took a matter of minutes, which was very convenient. A floo was usually a fireplace in a train station, hardly noticeable in the human world. As soon as Isolde picked up her bags, she saw a line of services near the front of the train station. Rent a hotel, set up tours, buy day spa packages, etc. Her eyes grew wide and for once she felt like a muse out of her element.

"Have you been here before?" came a warm, masculine voice.

Isolde turned to look and discovered a tall, male muse with the longest, most colorful wings she'd ever seen.  They flapped gently in the easy breeze that flittered through the station. He had long, soft brown hair with chestnut highlights and his eyes sparkled like aquamarines. His skin tone was a little darker than most muses, bordering on olive. He had such a rich, inviting smile it warmed her to her bones. She nibbled on her lower lip for a second, took a breath, and flashed him a smile.

"Ah, no."

"You looked a little overwhelmed. Want some help?"

 "Sure."

He offered his hand, palm up, in the traditional muse greeting.  "I'm Tristan."

She put her hand on his and a zip of warm tingles pulsed up her arm. "I'm Isolde."

Elijah took off at a sprint, Dax on his heels. The OD locked eyes with Elijah for a split second, then turned and ran. In that second, Elijah saw fear -- primal fear. What could cause that?

His pulse rifle was attached to a suicide strap, but Elijah couldn't fire it -- not a good idea in a crowd of civilians. He slung it over his shoulder so the gun rested on his back.

Civilians rushed to get out of the way. Elijah sidestepped the ones who had been shoved to the ground by the OD.

The OD slowed. Elijah pushed his legs to go faster, pumping his arms, keeping his eyes locked on his prey.

As the OD turned a corner, he shoved a woman right at Elijah. He took the extra second to push her away from him. "I'm sorry," he muttered.

She nodded her head. Elijah sprinted off. That bastard was giving him a good chase.

Dax was three paces behind Elijah. The OD had collapsed. His breathing was labored, his eyes were blood red and white foam dribbled over his chin. A person in a dark cloak ripped off the OD's sleeve. An obsidian patch, two inches in diameter, covered the OD's bicep.

"Stop!" cried Elijah.

Startled, the figure bolted up. Elijah drew in a breath and took off in a sprint. The figure began to run away from the OD, but Elijah was faster. He tackled the figure -- a woman, from the curves of her body. The patch went flying out of her hand.

Elijah reached for her wrists, pinning her against the floor. He could feel her body underneath his -- warm, perfectly shaped. The cloak fell to the side, partially revealing her face.

She had the warmest chocolate brown eyes he'd ever seen. Round and wide -- yet full of apprehension. She had thick raven-black hair, long, down to her mid-back. Her olive-toned complexion was flawless. For a second, he hungered to run his hands through the luscious mane of her hair.

"Who are you?" he asked.

She thrust her body toward his, taking his mouth with a kiss.
Stunned, Elijah allowed her lips to caress his. They were warm, sensual, tasting of honey.

"Persephone."

Her voice in his head startled him.

"Let me go."

Her cheeks reddened, but she only gestured toward the hall. "It's this way."

They entered the main room and he saw that the tapestry hung on the wall opposite of them. It filled the space entirely. Aiden stood stock-still, admiring its craftsmanship.

"We believe it commemorates the Norman conquest of England in 1066. We all call it a tapestry, but it's really an embroidery." She paused, then pointed. "Of course, the hero is William the Conqueror. His forces defeated those led by the English king, Harold Godwinson."

Aiden walked the length to the tapestry, marveling at the story and how the work had been well preserved for close to 1,000 years.

"Edward the Confessor had no heir so he sent Harold to tell William he would rule England once Edward died. Harold, however, usurped the throne."

Aiden pointed to a star with a tail. "Is that a star?"

She grinned. "Modern interpretation believes it to be Haley's comet. It was a bad omen for Harold."

 "What happened next?"

Noel giggled. "William conquered him."

"Silly me. I should have known that." He grabbed her waist and pulled her against him. Their eyes locked, hers smoldering with desire. Damn. He wanted to kiss her. Right now. Screw his willpower. Aiden grabbed her hand and led her to the nearest hallway. Empty, thank God.

Drake walked forward, stopping before her. White string lights sparkled on the tree, sending soft shadows over his cheeks. The room was empty. The doormen were escorting guests to their cars.

"What makes me believe it's Christmas is light." His voice was low and purposefully seductive. His nearness made her senses spin.

 "Light? I don't understand."

"In Denmark, the sun rises after eight in the morning and sets before four in the afternoon, so light is important in our Christmas traditions. Candlelight drives away the gloom and creates a warmth and coziness for many families during this cold and dark time of year. This last weekend my family gathered to light our first candle on the Advent wreath."

"Family is important to you?" She had to know. "Very. And you?"

"My mother passed away when I was a little girl, and my father threw his heart and soul into the winery. I have an uncle, but he lives in New York. I grew up not knowing what a close family was like."

His compelling eyes riveted her to the spot as they hinted of sadness. He reached out and cupped her cheek, gently stroking her jaw with his thumb. "I'm sorry. You shouldn't be alone at Christmas."

"I'm used to the loneliness." She closed her eyes briefly, enjoying his touch far too much.

He drew close, pressing the length of his body against hers. Her pulse quickened even as a sense of caution flooded through her. She opened her eyes and placed her hand over his, while placing her other hand over his chest to stop him from drawing closer. Despite her attraction, she wasn't quite ready to allow a kiss.

He stared into her eyes, keeping his hand on her waist. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." She hesitated. "Everything. You..." her voice trailed off. Silence grew between them. God, what had she been thinking? Was it possible to have a future with him?

Satisfied that he'd elicited a response from her, he looked her over. Right away Finn noticed that the queen was tall, standing over many of the men and soldiers in the room. She wore a small tiara made of gold, with a ruby seated in the middle. Her golden red hair flowed down her back in long, thick waves. She wore a silver gown with sleeves to her wrists. The fabric of the gown hugged the curves of her body. A leather belt fastened around her waist. His manhood thickened under his kilt. She was a fine woman. Finn noticed he was the only man in the room taller than her.

"My father's sent a man who is finally brave enough to walk through the bonfires, Darius."

Finn glanced at Darius, who frowned his displeasure.

He pursed his lips. He supposed he should be surprised the woman of his visions was Jasper's daughter, but now that he thought about it, it explained much.

"I am Aithne Morrigan, Queen of the Ruairc. Welcome to my castle." Her voice was velvet-edged and strong now, just like a queen's should be.

"Ye here of yer own free will, lass?" asked Finn.

Darius shoved an elbow in Finn's back.

Chris swam a lap in the heated pool as he waited for Famke to step out of the dressing room. A group of ladies were in the shallow end with an instructor working on a water aerobic routine.

He finished his lap and glided to where the water was just above his waist. Famke stepped out of the dressing room, walked over to the diving board and waved at him. He returned the gesture, smiling, keenly aware that his heartbeat throbbed in his ears. Her purple bikini showed off every sweet curve she possessed; her breasts were round and her hips were perfect. Lord! How could he lift her without kissing her?

Famke dove in, swam a lap, and then joined him. "Hi." She smiled.
"Hi."
"I'm ready. Lift me."

He swallowed, a little nervous, and blew out a long breath.

Ella gnawed on her lower lip. Could she steady herself enough to water skis to allow the parachute to lift her? She stared at the parasailing brochure. The man on the front made it look easy, but if it was one thing she learned about life, it was that nothing was easy.

"Hey, you want to try it?" The deep, masculine voice startled Ella. She placed her hand over her chest to steady her heart.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you." He walked around  to her side so she could see him. "I'm Logan Donovan."

Ella's breath jammed in her throat. Logan's wide smile and kind sky-blue eyes sparkled in the sun. Tall, broad chested, and well muscled, his stance radiated confidence. Men rarely snunk up on her, only Logan had, and he'd taken her breath away.
